CoimbatoreTaxi News In today’s world, interview is one of the very common techniques to assess a person in terms of suitability and adaptability to a particular job or role. While there are lots of ways to conduct an interview such as conducting an online test, written test, and Group discussion and so on, the ultimate and final step to assess a person’s candidature would be by a having a face to face interview. The below article is proposed at assisting the prospective candidates by giving some questions which are very commonly asked in any interview. Also, a list of do’s and don’ts are added in this article to help the prospective candidates to perform better in interviews. Most recurrently asked questions1.) Self Introduction of the candidateFor Example: – Tell me something about yourself, your family milieu, educational background and so on. This question acts as an ice-breaker to make the aspirant feel comfortable, speak in a relaxed manner. Answer: Assuming that the person knows your name, you can start with your educational background and then move on to your family background. Always try to begin your conversation with a smile so that it makes your employer also feel comfortable talking to you. Sequence your reply in a systematic manner so that it is very organized and not unstructured. 2.) Domain knowledgeThis being the crux of the interview, it is always better if the interviewee can read the job description prior to applying for the post so that he can meticulously get ready for the dialogue. Ex- It is extremely beneficial for a prospective applicant to discern the function and errands of an accounts manager so that he can attend the discussion with self-assurance. Give the relevant answers to the question posed to you. Be specific and to the point. 3.) Questions pertaining to your resume would be asked-For Example- Questions pertaining to your hobbies, interests and as a matter of fact your career objective would be asked. Answer: It’s not mandatory to mention your pastime, and whenever you refer to them, does not mention leisure pursuit just for the sake of mentioning it. For example- a very common hobby mentioned would be reading books, if you do not read books and just mention that your hobby would be reading books, you would be caught napping when you are asked a question as to what kind of books you read and so on. Also, your career objective should be in line with the job which you have applied for. Ensure, your career objective is a one-liner as it should not be a paragraph as people may not have the time to read it fully. 4.) Questions unfolding to accomplishments, achievements, actions -Most of the times these questions would be asked for candidates who have mentioned about the same in their resumes or Curriculum vitae’s. For Example; tell me what has been the biggest inventiveness or attainment in your career spanning so and so years. Answer: Ensure your achievements are SMART (Specific, Measureable, Answerable, Realistic, and Time bound). Your deeds should be something which can be quantified. For Example: – Initiated a process improvement in the application by co-ordinating with the Application development team which resulted in 2 FTE saves (Full time employee saves). Do not explain about achievements which cannot be computed, as they do not make any sense to the individual conducting the symposium. 5.) What is your biggest strength- Many mistake the question to be non-work related and give some answers which are totally unrelated. This is purely work related. Answer: This is a genial of make or break question. Many a time, this question can act as a decider as to whether you would be selected or rejected. At the same time, this gives you a golden opportunity to present yourself in an apt manner to your employer. As far as possible do not try to mix your personal characteristic trait with the professional attribute. For Ex: – If you are good at analytical skills, you can make a mention of it rather than telling you are a very hard working personality. 6.) Acquaintance about the prospective company you have applied for- This is mostly asked for freshers to test their general knowledge. Answer: It’s always better to do some kind of ground work about any company which you have applied the job for. As the employer would get some confidence in you about attention to detail. Whether it is for the role of a Vice President or for an entry level process executive, you need to know the prospective company’s background, their lines of business, and their core activities and so on. 7.) What’s your prevailing limitation? Answer: Similar to one’s potency, this can act as a crucial element in any discussion. Highly imperative to be thoroughly prepared while answering the same. It would be suicidal to state that you do not have an area of improvement, or say for example state that “I am very hard-working, as a reason do not get along well with people”, which sounds very melodramatic. For one needs to exercise caution and care and state only work associated points such as “Need to improve on reporting skills, as they would extremely essential in handling BAU activities. (BAU-Business As Usual) 8.) Query pointed towards pertinent experience? Answer: Do your underpinning as much as possible, before applying for the prospective job and try to correlate it with your resume. The reason being companies always look out for persons who have some sort of experience akin to the job applied since it would work out cheaper, as they need not invest in training for such candidates. At the same time, the association can be done only when there is some resemblance to your previous job with the one applied for. Ex: ACommerce graduate cannot claim to have appropriate understanding in graphic designing unless he has done some sort of specialized course in animation and worked in an allied business.
